Barnyard Bash

1st birthday parties are fun but lets be honest....it isn't for the birthday boy its for the parents to celebrate making it through the first year. That being said I started planning Ethan's birthday party about 3 months ago. I know...I know. It all started when I saw a cake idea in a magazine that I loved and decided to do the theme around the cake....Barnyard Bash! Now I am NO Betty Crocker but I can follow directions and it seemed do able so I thought I'd give it a try. It wasn't hard to make the cake but it was very time consuming. Luckily, I had help from my Mom, Grandma, and SIL Marcy in the assembly of the cake....BIG Thank you to them :) I have to say I am pretty proud about how it turned out!

I found super cute invitations from Zazzle.com and decorative stuff from Oriental Trading Co. that completed our Barnyard theme.

We had a great time and had lots (30 adults and 13 kids) of friends & family that came out to help us celebrate. I thought it would be fun to try and play a couple games with the kids that were there but had to have something that would work for and age range of 2 to 7 so I came up with Pin the Tail on the Pig.

Way too many gifts!!

Thank you to everyone for helping celebrate our precious little man.

1st Birthday

Ethan's 1st birthday was May 21st and I cannot even begin to describe how I felt thinking about how fast his first year has flown by. I always had people telling me that it would go by fast, but I honestly feel like it was only a couple months ago that we were headed to the hospital to bring him into this world and then nervously bringing him home two days later.

Zack and I enjoyed going in a waking up a our little man with a great rendition of the "Happy Birthday"song, to which we received our favorite first morning smile! I was happy that I had taken the day off work and was able to spend the day enjoying time with Ethan and running last minute errands for the big 1st Birthday Party.

Yes He's a Thumb Sucker!

Friday evening we celebrated the birthday boy with our family. Ethan LOVED the cake and we got some very memorable pictures of him devouring it!
